Day 2 – Sunday, July 12
Lorrene Davis
Sunday was the first full day of the IPCA Retreat and got off to an early start with Karin Serra leading some of the attendees in a slow-moving yoga / stretching session. Once the workroom opened at 8 AM, however, things seemed to move ahead at near light speed. In addition to the impromptu demos going on at various worktables, the Sunday demo schedule had something for everyone:
Suzanne Ivester: Blue-Tack the Artist’s Best Friend
Kathi Briefer-Gose : Chain Maille
Marla Frankenberg & Judy Belcher: Canes in One Color
Maureen Carlson : Tips and Tricks for Making Faces
Debbie Jackson : Natural Inspirations
Charlene (Cat) Therien : Fruity Fashion
Cindy Silas : Photo Polymer Texture Plates
Wilma Yost : Virtuoso Extruder and the D.R.E.A.M machine

Retreat Report: Day 1 |
|
|
|
Day 1 of the Retreat got off to a great start with many volunteers converging on the workroom bright and early in the morning. Together they made light work of the tasks at hand - filling goody bags, organizing items for check-in and helping setup the workroom. Thanks to their dedication, we were able to open the workroom two hours earlier than expected.
Soon after the workroom opened, attendees arrived and began to settle in to their workspaces, greet old friends and make new ones. Before long, impromptu table-side demos were taking place, attendees were shopping at Polymer Clay Express' table and from fellow attendees.
Late afternoon brought the Welcome Reception in the light and open Falling Waters Lounge. The buffet table was well stocked and based on how quickly some of the trays emptied, a big hit. Folks gathered around to relax, chat and eat and then returned to the workroom for more clay fun.
Select pictures from the day are on the IPCA Flickr page. Enjoy and we'll report back for Day 2!

Countdown to Chicago |

Kerrie enjoys the English Sunshine
This is one of few remaining updates before we set off to
our fantastic weekend of uninterrupted, floor to ceiling claying time.
I wonder if
I'm the only one who thinks there's plenty of time to complete
projects, in my head, only to find the technique seems to take ten
times as long? Then look at what I've made and have a major confidence
crisis because it probably isn't anywhere near as good as everyone
else's?
My little worktable (and floor) is piled with 'work in
progress', and I'm determined to make my contribution to the Bead
Strand and Auction, and Swap . I think it is so important for our work,
at whatever humble or advanced stage we think we are, to be included in
the Bead Strand. Why?
